WallStreetBets Stocks
WallStreetBets stocks are a subreddit (sub-forum) community on the internet platform called Reddit. This community posts effectively and radically, especially on stock trading and investing. WallStreetBets is known as a platform that encourages many traders to use unusual and risky strategies to make short-term gains.
The WSB community became particularly famous in 2021 as it created massive price movements on GameStop (GME), AMC Entertainment Holdings (AMC) and several other stocks. These moves were the result of the community’s coordinated efforts and use of short compression strategies. WSB members sought to raise the share prices of these companies by buying and holding these stocks. This caused huge losses for large mutual funds and short positions, and this event was seen as a victory for the “small investors” over the big institutional players.
